A God-Sized Dream or a Wrong Turn?

This past week has been filled with concerns. One of the heaviest is the sale of our home. We’re approaching the one-year mark since we listed it, and we’re not sure what to do.

We believe we are where God wants us, yet the house remains unsold. So we ask God, What are you doing? Did we mishear you? Maintaining two residences has stretched us financially. Thankfully, we have wonderful neighbors and a great realtor keeping an eye on things. And God continues to provide for every need.

Still, we wonder if we misunderstood.

Maybe you’ve been there, too—holding onto a dream or direction you were so sure of, only to be met with waiting, uncertainty, or obstacles. It’s unsettling.

Would you pray with us? We’re asking for the sale of our house or God’s clear direction regarding it. And if you’re in a similar season of waiting, I’d love to pray for you, too.

Consider

Do you have a dream that feels ridiculous and impossible? The kind that only God could bring to life? That’s a God-shaped dream.

If He’s nudging you toward something, but you’re unsure how to begin, you’re not alone. In this continued discussion with Merritt Onsa, I share some simple steps I took with God to move forward—and how you can do the same.

🎧 How to Start When Dreams Feel Too Big

Reflect

Staring down the uncertainty of a God-sized dream? Listen to God’s assurance in

Psalm 37:23-24:

The Lord directs the steps of the godly.

He delights in every detail of their lives.

Though they stumble, they will never fall,

for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Max Lucado, in Fearless, reminds us:

"Heaven’s message for you is clear: when everything else changes, God’s presence never does. You journey in the company of the Holy Spirit, who ‘will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you’ (John 14:26 NLT)."

Even when we don’t see movement, God is still at work. If you’re waiting on something right now, take heart—He delights in every detail of your life.

🙏🏻 May I pray for you?

Sometimes, you simply don’t want to do something. Like… Write a letter. ✍️ Have that difficult conversation. 🗣️ Do the dishes. 🧽 Clean the bathroom. 🚽 Get those test results. 👩⚕️ Face your fear head-on. 😨 Be an adult. 🤷♀️ (My grown kids call this adulting 😀) Sometimes you’d rather skip it. Ever feel this way? When you do, remember you don’t have to face any of this alone. God remains closer than the air you breathe. I needed this reminder today. Consider A couple of months ago, I shared a...

Growing up, February was a month packed with celebrations—my brother and sister’s birthdays, Valentine’s Day (Mom made it extra fun!), and two presidential birthdays that meant days off from school. Back then, we had Lincoln’s birthday (Feb. 12) and Washington’s birthday (Feb. 22) off—until Congress consolidated them into Presidents’ Day on the third Monday of the month. Presidents Washington and Lincoln understood the importance of faith woven into every part of life. Like our Founding...
