My business coach keeps asking me the same question on our calls lately: what are you focused on? While this question asks me to evaluate every aspect of my business, my coach also knows I am a holistic person. I'm not a business person and a separate individual living some other life. I'm just me. What’s Been On My Heart How often do interruptions pull you out of focus? If you're honest, it's probably your own limitations doing most of the interrupting. They're loud and impossible to ignore, every single day. Yet God tells you to look to him for your daily needs (Philippians 4:13,19). He also says his grace more than compensates for whatever you lack (2 Corinthians 12:9). Sit with this question for a moment: What might be possible if you truly trusted God with everything, including your fears, inadequacies, and challenges? Dear one, you don't need a neat answer right now. Ask honestly. Here's my challenge: Spend ten minutes this week writing out what might be possible if you trusted God in the areas you struggle with the most. Then reply to this email with the one discovery that most excites you. Something for You You keep showing up here every week, and so many of you write back to share what you're carrying. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and heart. For a while now, you've silently carried the heavy weight of betrayal. However, you were never meant to carry it alone. What would it be like to have a conversation with someone who understands what that weight means? I'd love to have a simple conversation with you. Book your free session here. Don't Forget It’s not too late! Breathe Again: A Healing Path, my twelve-week group coaching experience for women healing from betrayal, begins September 15. Emery and I made pretzels together on our last vacation. I love this little video of flour-dusted hands twisting dough. I stopped to grab some pictures of how the city workers keep beauty front and center, softening all the concrete and steel of the skyscrapers around us. A black planter along the street overflows with petunias and sweet potato vine, and the coleus and other flowers outside my building have exploded after all this rain and humidity. What’s Been On My Heart How often do you...
My girls have raved about their air fryers for years, and I just nodded along. Two people who don't eat much fried food don't need another gadget, especially in a condo with barely enough cabinet space for what we already own. Then I set off the smoke alarm heating pot stickers in a pan on the stove. Again. 🤦🏻♀️ For the bazillionth time. 🫤 Yes, that's a word. This week, I finally bought the air fryer. Dinner came out perfect in ten minutes. No oven to heat up, no alarm blaring through the...
My grandchildren went back to school this week. Dave started his faculty meetings today. Students will return to college campuses within the next few weeks. Even after over 40 years, starting school in August still feels foreign to me. Growing up, we always started after Labor Day. August still feels like summer to me, and the temperatures where we live agree. If you live outside the United States, when does your school year start? I'd love to know. What’s Been On My Heart This week, my mind...
