43 Years, One Menu Surprise, and Lots of Gratitude

Hi [first name],

Thank you for your anniversary wishes.

Here are a few pictures from our special dinner at Boka Chicago. From the moment we walked in the door, we enjoyed a well-planned and executed culinary experience. Every staff member congratulated us on our 43rd anniversary and thanked us for sharing the celebration with them. Many expressed their amazement at reaching this milestone.

It was over-the-top customer service—something you rarely see today.

A personalized note on their menu! 🤯

We laughed, lingered over our meal, reminisced about each milestone through the years, and thanked God for His faithfulness.

We marveled at how full-circle it felt to be “back where we met”—in Chicago—46 years after that first connection.

Consider

Maybe your anniversary date just passed. Or maybe it’s coming up.
But instead of looking forward to a celebration, you feel distant.
Conversations feel hard—or nonexistent.
The idea of enjoying a quiet dinner together feels more like pressure than peace.

I get it.

The best decision we ever made was reaching out for help.
Not because things were going well—but because they weren’t.

We were desperate for healing, for hope, and just to make it through the next day.

If you've been thinking about coaching, this might be the nudge you need.

Reflect

“The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.” —Psalm 145:14 NLT

God really does meet us in the mess.

Dave and I talked about that during dinner, too—how God’s hand has been so evident through the hardest chapters.

Each year together is a gift. Yes, we remember the pain. But we choose to focus on the redemption. The growth. The unexpected beauty.

Take a moment today and ask yourself:
Where can you trace God’s help in your story?

🙏🏻 May I pray for you?

Dear God, the Bible reminds us that you are close to the brokenhearted. Please let that truth settle deep in Reader’s heart today. Wrap her in your love and remind her she doesn’t carry this burden alone. Thank you that Reader can look back and see moments when you lifted her out of the pain. Help her remember. Help her trust. Help her breathe today. Surround Reader with your peace and your presence. Amen.
