The leaves are absolutely stunning around here these days. š I love the riot of colors and the gentle sound they make as they drift to the ground. Walking home from church this week, Dave and I found ourselves kicking through piles of leaves along the walkwayālaughing as we remembered all those years of raking leaves into big heaps and tossing our kids into them. (Sometimes we jumped in too!) Iām so grateful for simple joys like that. Maybe your life doesnāt feel so lighthearted right now. Maybe it feels messy, uncertain, or heavy. I get that. Gratitude isnāt always easy when life feels off-kilter. But even in the chaos, we can still look for small glimpses of beautyāthose tiny reminders that God is present and faithful. Consider As Thanksgiving approaches, pause for a moment. Look around. Notice one thing that makes you smile or reminds you of Godās goodness. Praise Him for it. The old hymn āCount Your Blessingsā keeps floating through my mind lately: Count your blessings, name them one by one. When you start to count, even the tiniest blessings become more recognizable. Reflect Ephesians 5:20 says, āAnd give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.ā When gratitude feels hard, let worship lead your heart there. āLaura Story - Blessings (Live)ā šš» May I pray for you? Dear God, Thank You that Reader can find your blessings every day. You donāt hide them. Thank you for holding Reader close to your heart. In this Thanksgiving season, flood Reader with your grace and peace. Give Reader the strength to see your blessings in the imperfect and even difficult things because you are with her. May Readerās heart overflow with gratitude for who you areāunchanging, always present, and the lover of Readerās soul. Amen |

Thank you for praying for Dave and me these past couple of months. Truly. May I tell you what God did? We didnāt see it coming either. Ever since moving to the Windy City, weāve been renting. In our first twelve months here, we moved twice. Moving here isnāt simpleāand itās certainly not inexpensive. What we never imagined? Buying the condo where we currently live. I wonāt bore you with the details, but I will say this: God arranged everything in such a way that we now own our condo outright....
Happy New Year. šItās the first full week of January 2026. How are you doingāreally?Dave and I arrived home this weekend, and as I was settling back in, I found myself thinking about years past. There was a season when we spent the final days of the year and January 1 together in a retreat-like spaceāquiet, reflective, unhurried. As I closed out 2025 and stepped into 2026, I realized how much I missed that. We havenāt had that opportunity for several years now, and the ache surprised me.So Iām...
Can you believe itās the last week of 2025? I donāt know about you, but this time of year always carries a mix of emotions for meāgratitude, relief, sadness, hopeā¦sometimes all at once. Dave and I were able to connect with all our family on Christmas Day. Weāre incredibly thankful for technology that made that possible. I thought you might enjoy seeing a picture of our whole clan. We feel deeply grateful for our familyāthough Iāll be honest, it hasnāt always been easy or healthy with...
