This time of year, I feel like a kid looking through the candy store window. Spring is on its way — crocuses, daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths are poking through the thawing ground as I walk down the city streets. The air feels a little different… until the wind blows off the still-cold Lake Michigan. I love springtime. It feels like a gift every year. Oh — and It'Sugar, a massive candy store, is only a couple of blocks away. Very dangerous. 😉 What’s Been On My Heart Just like the promise of spring, God reminds me daily that his promises never fail. It’s probably why I love the words to Waymaker—”miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness, that is who you are.” “...The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation. . . The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does." Psalm 145:8-13 NLT Do you need this reminder? Where do you need God to keep his promise in your life? This week, I needed this reminder as the enemy of our souls launched his sneak attack on a still-vulnerable place. And, as Dave and I watch the continued attacks on Ukraine and now the war in Iran, we once again ask God to keep his promise. One day soon, Jesus will return. How we long for that day. Until then, we pray for those in these regions — people God loves and cares about. We also pray for all leaders making difficult decisions. Something for You This week, I wrestled with some deep self-limiting beliefs. The kind that whisper, "You're not enough." And then I heard about Josiah. Sometimes we just need a beautiful reminder that what we place into God's hands is always enough. Middle Schooler Without Legs Is Key Part Of Basketball Team 🙏🏻 A Prayer for You Dear God, you are Reader's promise keeper. You thaw frozen ground and replace gray winters with spring flowers — and you can do the same for Reader's heart. If Reader is in a winter season right now — hurting, angry, or exhausted from trying to hold everything together — remind Reader that you see her. Every tear. Every sleepless night. Every moment she chose to keep going when quitting felt easier. You hold Reader close. Where the enemy has crept into the tender, still-healing places — meet Reader there. Be her Waymaker. Be her light in the darkness. Give Reader the courage and faith to believe that what you place in her hands is enough — that she is enough — for today and every day to come. Reader trusts you. She is leaning on You. And she is grateful — even now. Amen. |

My mom used to tell me that March and April were hard months for her. Growing up in northern Minnesota, I watched the beautiful white snow turn muddy and black. What once sparkled now tracked a mushy mess into the house with every person who walked through the door. Add in the temps that could not make up their mind, and life felt a bit more chaotic than the predictable quiet of winter cold. This year, I get Mom’s feelings more than ever. The seasonal switches feel unsettling. So when the sun...
The best birthday gifts I received were not wrapped—they were phone calls and special texts from my children and grandchildren. Oh, my heart. 💛 Dave took me out for a gluten-free doughnut and a chai latte, then we walked to Lake Michigan to soak up some sunshine. ☕️ Even with Chicago traffic humming all around us, my soul just… revived. I found myself marveling at God’s goodness and kindness all over again. I get to experience all of this. What a gift. What’s Been On My Heart “You keep track...
Happy March! 🎉 It is a big month around here, and I am just going to go ahead and blame the calendar. Our eldest granddaughter turns 18 in a couple of days 🤯🎉—and yes, we tease her about getting older, as if we would know anything about that. 🤣 Our grandson has a birthday the following week, and our youngest granddaughter closes out the month. Phew! Oh—and somewhere in the middle of all that, I have a birthday too. 😃 I am owning it. There will most definitely be cake. 🎂 March is basically a...
