The friend who asked nothing of me

Connection. Relationships. Both filled my week.

I started the week with my sister-friend, Daphne. We spent relaxed time together without an agenda.

Later, Dave and I had the opportunity to connect with former college classmates. We heard about their life adventures with God and encouraged each other to keep trusting God no matter what.

Together, we remembered profs and other friends, marveling at how God took each relationship and shaped our lives.

Something for You

These types of connection ask something of you. But when you wrestle with your identity in Christ or with feeling safe in a large group, staying present gets hard.

Your mind knows you're safe. Somehow, your body didn't get the message.

"The LORD is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? … For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock." — Psalm 27:1-6 (NLT)

Dear one, God offers you a safe place. Your body can learn that truth too.

That's why Sylvia Tillmann and I will host a free webinar this Thursday to help you align your mind, body, and heart with safety.

Sylvia, a certified TRE® Provider, brings a body-based approach that helps release built-up tension and settle your nervous system. Alongside her, I'll share a simple framework for the moments your body sounds the alarm.

We still have spots available. Join us. Get some answers.

Dear God, you created Reader in your image, which means Reader needs close relationships. Where there is discord, please bring harmony. Restore safety for Reader so they can be fully present wherever they are. Use Reader to show the beauty of healthy relationships to those in Reader's circle of influence. And thank you for being faithful, God, always. Reader can trust you to keep your promises. Amen.

Last Thursday, Sylvia Tillmann of Tremendous TRE and I teamed up to host a webinar. We helped people in betrayal recovery understand what happens in their heart, mind, and body. I had such fun recognizing how God designed our bodies to care for us, even in extreme or challenging situations. We truly are fearfully and wonderfully made. What's Been On My Heart With the calendar turning to November, we greet the holiday season. For better or worse. I love Thanksgiving. Its focus on gratitude...

Our trip to Utah carried a surprise. Dave and I soaked up much-needed, life-giving time with our son and his family. Then our great-nephew Emmett, along with his dad, mom, and sister, showed up as well. He participated in a knife show in Salt Lake City two of the days we were there. What a fun surprise for all of us! Pictures below: the knife show and our granddaughter’s color guard competition. What’s Been On My Heart How do you use your time? Time stays fixed. It’s finite, for all of us....

Thank you for your kind encouragement over the last week. Each reply to my emails about going back to school meant so much. Oh, by the way, tomorrow marks the last day of this class. Then it's on to the next one, heading toward graduation in May 2027. Dave and I are once again traveling to spend time with our family. We're enjoying the fall changes in Utah with our kids and grandkids. I'll send a few pictures next week. What’s Been On My Heart What do you do when your heart and mind argue...
