The smile no one questions

Last Thursday, Sylvia Tillmann of Tremendous TRE and I teamed up to host a webinar. We helped people in betrayal recovery understand what happens in their heart, mind, and body.

I had such fun recognizing how God designed our bodies to care for us, even in extreme or challenging situations.

We truly are fearfully and wonderfully made.

What's Been On My Heart

With the calendar turning to November, we greet the holiday season. For better or worse.

I love Thanksgiving. Its focus on gratitude makes it one of my favorite holidays.

But when you walk through betrayal recovery, the holidays pile on unwritten expectations.

How do you navigate them?

What do you do with the guilt you feel when you want to run away and hide until mid-January? And how do you show up with a genuine smile when your heart is broken and no one knows?

"Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving." Psalm 28:6-7 (NLT)

Dear one, you can navigate the craziness with integrity. Make this your time to breathe again, or breathe anew.

Please join me for Pass the Pie, Hold the Panic, a free webinar built to help you answer those questions and more.

Pass the Pie, Hold the Panic Wednesday, November 18 5pm ET · 4pm CT · 2pm PT

Something for You

Every family has difficult people. Dr. Philip Miller coined a name for them: the "more grace required" people.

What if your inner dialogue has turned you into one of those people? Find help and hope in this post.

🙏🏻 A Prayer for You

Dear God, it's now the holiday season. However this hits Reader, infuse them with joy because of their relationship with you. Give Reader wisdom to navigate the many events, requests, and expectations of this season. Reader's expectations as well.

This holiday season, allow Reader to discover a new gratitude for you and all you've done and continue to do in Reader's life. Show up in surprising ways for them, so that when January arrives, all they can do is praise you for your faithfulness and love. Amen.

Connection. Relationships. Both filled my week. I started the week with my sister-friend, Daphne. We spent relaxed time together without an agenda. Later, Dave and I had the opportunity to connect with former college classmates. We heard about their life adventures with God and encouraged each other to keep trusting God no matter what. Together, we remembered profs and other friends, marveling at how God took each relationship and shaped our lives. Something for You These types of connection...

Our trip to Utah carried a surprise. Dave and I soaked up much-needed, life-giving time with our son and his family. Then our great-nephew Emmett, along with his dad, mom, and sister, showed up as well. He participated in a knife show in Salt Lake City two of the days we were there. What a fun surprise for all of us! Pictures below: the knife show and our granddaughter’s color guard competition. What’s Been On My Heart How do you use your time? Time stays fixed. It’s finite, for all of us....

Thank you for your kind encouragement over the last week. Each reply to my emails about going back to school meant so much. Oh, by the way, tomorrow marks the last day of this class. Then it's on to the next one, heading toward graduation in May 2027. Dave and I are once again traveling to spend time with our family. We're enjoying the fall changes in Utah with our kids and grandkids. I'll send a few pictures next week. What’s Been On My Heart What do you do when your heart and mind argue...
